The Oshkosh T3000 is a truly classic airport fire truck. The T3000 shown here is over 20 years old, but after a series of refurbishments, its striking fluorescent green exterior and powerful 540-horsepower engine fully demonstrate its capability.
The Oshkosh T3000 airport fire truck is like a guardian of the airport, entrusted with the sacred mission of firefighting and rescue. The vehicle in the picture was manufactured in 1996 and underwent a complete refurbishment in 2014, giving it a fresh new look.
These photos come from a website that specializes in selling fire trucks. This particular vehicle has already been sold, although the price was not listed. Based on the site, a 1989 Oshkosh T3000 was sold for $80,000 (roughly 553,000 RMB), so it’s safe to assume this one wasn’t cheap either.
When it comes to fire trucks, red is the first color that comes to mind, but there are exceptions. In some countries, a small number of fire trucks are painted yellow or green. This 20-year-old veteran has been given a new life with a fluorescent green paint job, and its first impression is—well—flashy.
Its boxy front end gives it a slightly clumsy yet endearing appearance. The front also features the Oshkosh logo, but the most eye-catching parts are the 2 fire monitors mounted above and below, which can spray powerful streams of water and foam during emergencies.
The superstructure is equipped with a 3,000-gallon (approximately 11,356 liters) water tank and a 410-gallon (approximately 1,552 liters) foam tank.
Each side of the vehicle has 3 roll-up compartments, which, when opened, clearly reveal the pipelines and other components inside. These roll-up doors were also improved during the refurbishment.
Upon inspection of the roof, it features perforated anti-slip panels on both sides, along with guardrails. The top can hold various firefighting equipment, and it’s also fitted with new LED emergency lights.
The vehicle uses a 6×6 drive configuration. In terms of power, it’s equipped with a Detroit Diesel 540-horsepower engine, delivering robust performance.
Additionally, the tires have been replaced with Michelin 24R21 models.
The steering wheel is center-mounted, and the cabin is fitted with 3 seats.
