▎Product Reliability
The power demand of a fire truck extends beyond the chassis — fire-fighting components like high-pressure water pumps and foam systems also require strong power support. To meet this need, SITRAK adopts ZF’s latest “TraXon” transmission series. Compared with standard cargo truck transmissions, it is equipped with a full-power PTO (Power Take-Off) that can deliver up to 2,000 N·m of torque.
Time is critical in fire rescue operations — fire trucks are racing against time. During missions, they often face high-speed cornering and sudden braking, which require excellent vehicle stability. SITRAK uses a MAN-technology rear axle that is perfectly matched with the MAN-technology engine. The rear axle’s lubricant replacement interval is as high as 100,000 km, demonstrating high confidence in the product’s reliability.
The high-load-capacity front axle, paired with wide 385 mm tires for superior traction and equipped with anti-roll bars, ensures vehicle stability during high-speed cornering.
With well-known brands such as WABCO for pumps and valves and Fuchs for connectors, the truck boasts excellent sealing and reliability. When combined with disc brakes and automatic slack adjusters, the system greatly shortens braking distance.
▎Refitting Adaptability
A fire truck’s chassis not only demands high manufacturing standards but must also offer excellent adaptability for body refitting — a key user requirement. SITRAK’s longitudinal beams use a rivet-free and bolt-free design, with standardized hole spacing, allowing for modular layout and component selection for different wheelbase configurations.
Like cargo trucks, specialty vehicles also require reasonable weight reduction. Lower curb weight, without compromising reliability and safety, provides more refitting flexibility for body builders.
Firstly, the modular design of the SITRAK engine significantly reduces the number of components, lowering both the failure rate and the engine’s weight. Secondly, components like the aluminum alloy urea tank, aluminum air reservoir, and aluminum fuel tank further reduce the vehicle’s total weight.
