Unimog U5023 Fire Truck – Traversing Mountains and Rivers for Emergency Rescue

This combination fire rescue truck is built on the chassis of the Unimog U5023, with both the cab and chassis originating from imported designs. At first glance, the vehicle exudes a strong off-road presence. The entire body is equipped with multiple anti-collision bumpers. Attentive observers will notice a large protective grille at the front of the cab, primarily because this vehicle frequently operates on rugged terrain, and the grille effectively blocks debris like rocks and dirt from damaging the body.

The iconic Mercedes-Benz 3-pointed star still stands proudly at the center of the front grille, though additional protective measures have been added to the original U5023 grille. The headlights have been redesigned from rectangular units to several smaller circular lights, each equipped with protective mesh for off-road driving. Flanking the star emblem are 2 prominent marker lights, and below the windshield on both sides are spotlights to greatly enhance nighttime driving safety in the wilderness. A winch is mounted to the front bumper for both self-recovery and rescue operations.

The air intake and drainage system are positioned higher than the cab to ensure excellent water fording capabilities — the U5023 can handle water depths of up to 1.2 meters. Thanks to its portal axles, the vehicle boasts high ground clearance and extreme approach and departure angles (44° front, 51° rear), ensuring maneuverability and comfort in off-road conditions. The U5023 chassis also offers a high payload capacity of up to 14.5 tons, allowing the fire truck to carry more water, foam, and other firefighting equipment.
